Inspiration is one of the most beautiful forms of motivation. I’ve been blogging for almost a year now and every post has begun somewhere. I’ve noticed that my favorite sources for inspiration are people. I’m intrigued by you all, and I want to discuss the way your actions or ideas reached me and made an impact.
Today I found myself very inspired by the talent and direction of a video project made by Cara Allen. She's an Atlanta local who shares my love for music, and is already making  a big impression with her work. Not to mention, her Instagram is full of beautiful and artistic photographs, definitely worth a follow!
She studied at Savannah College of Art and Design, and has no doubt picked up some serious videography skills along the way. The title stuck out to me as I was scrolling through Facebook, “Open Your Eyes // A Bassnectar Documentary.” I’m always looking to learn more about everything (especially music!), so of course I was hooked. The video is below, so go ahead and press play before we continue ;).

Ahh, I notice more elements each time I watch it. The beautiful thing about this video is that is spans all audiences. Her goal is to share the ideas and beliefs surrounding Bassnectar culture and blend them in a way that is unique. All artists seek to evoke a new response and start discussion. Cara’s audience felt the message, and it quickly circulated out through the Bassnectar community.   It helps when you understand those that you are trying to reach, and you can feel Cara's love for the Bass Fam through the amount of effort and passion that went into the project.
The video has been published for less than two days and it’s already been viewed over 14,000 times. That’s pretty impressive for a fan-made documentary, right? You might think so, but there is a true professional quality to Cara’s video that sets it apart. I especially enjoyed how she featured Lorin Ashton's viewpoints that influence his music, and the culture that surrounds it. It's a true documentary made up of a collage of video and audio interviews with Lorin, as well as specific pull quotes. Thoughtful touches like the one below make her message resonate with the audience.

Cara noted that she "had to do quite a bit of 'forensic videography’” while making the film. She featured a lot of unique video footage that I’m sure many Nectar fans have never seen before. The music choices added to the message and the meaning of her video, and I can’t understate how much I enjoyed the way she arranged it all. Her direction created a unique collection of clips, sounds and images that showcase a true artistic style throughout her video.
I can appreciate the way her creativity moved me, and I want to do my part to share the thoughts it evoked and spread it even further. It is a beautiful cycle, a butterfly effect of magnetic neural energy. I hope you will take the time to view this amazing video that gives a powerful scope of a music culture that spread from one man, who was impacted by thousands more before him.

This strong and positive response to my work is overwhelming. I'm so proud to be a #basshead. Just want to show love and spread the movement

It is a perfect example of how music can translate and morph into new forms of communication and understanding. Everything around us is amorphous, and it’s up to us as to how we want to reflect it back.
I’m inspired by Cara’s videography talent and her motivation to work towards making art. You can read more about her video on EDM Assassin or EDM.com. Also, follow her YouTube channel here. I’m keeping my eye out to see what Cara’s next video project may be. She definitely caught my attention, and I hope she continues to pursue a passion. And I’m not the only one who feels the same way!

I wish people would understand why we love bassnectar so much.. That video wud do us justice

Okay, so I’m working to get back on track here. Haven’t been the best about keeping track of what progress I’ve made, so I’m not going to fudge the numbers. I have absolutely no idea how December came so quickly. I have an entirely full calendar already and I’m one day in. No doubt, this is going to be yet another fun month (I’ve noticed that trend going on for the past few of them). But this on-the-go lifestyle makes it hard to make progress in anything. I’m really trying to figure out which goals I need to prioritize for December. But before I get there, I need to recap November. Let's take a peek at what I've been up to.
Completed will be bolded. In Progress will be italicized. Incomplete items will stay normal.
Start date: May 15, 2015
End date: February 9, 2018
{8 COMPLETE, 93 TO GO}
11. 15 new recipes from my Food Faves board. {2/15} [Steak and Spinach Quesadillas]
41. Put $10 in savings for every goal I cross off this list. {$80/$1,010}
46. Go to at least 10 concerts. {2/10} Minnesota [11.21.15]
47. Try 15 new restaurants. {6/15} Burger Republic [11.28.15]
49. Listen to 10 classic rock albums all the way through. {4/10} [Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd (1973)], [Are You Experienced? - Jimi Hendrix (1967)]
53. See an NFL game. [11.22.15]
79. Publish 100 posts on my blog. {43/100} 40, 41, 42, 43
READ THE FULL LIST
Looking back on it, I might have had a pretty fun-heavy month. I need to be better at balancing thing out and making well-rounded progress on my goals. I can't get picky, they're all on my list for a good reason. I'm glad I worked on Goal #11, finally! I've been cooking more often because I love cooking for Tyler, and I'll have to share with you my own twist on those Steak and Spinach Quesadillas. They're sooo delicious! You can read all about my first time at Burger Republic in Nashville in my trip recap. And I'll eventually be getting around to giving you all my thoughts about the classic rock albums I've chosen to listen to. Hang tight, I promise I'm sitting on a gold mine of blog content that is just begging to be published.
 I'm glad I made it out to a Falcons game this month! I love NFL, and I haven't been following that closely this year. Being in the action at a live game makes it so much more fun, especially because I got to hang with my buddy Thomas the whole day. Well that sums that up. Are you ready for December? Comment below with something you're looking forward to about the holidays. For me, it'll be spending time with my family, the ones that know me the best.
