Where did September go? I swear it was just Labor Day. My life has been sort of hectic lately, but in a good way. I’ve had my first whole month at my new job, and it keeps getting better (and busier)! I see a lot of people around me who are inspired by our company’s future and I feel like I’m truly contributing to and feeding off of it. I'll eventually be writing up something about my job and what I do, so be looking out for it.
I don't have a lot of free time anymore, because I now spend almost half my day at work during the week, but I've been making more plans with friends than ever. There are so many exciting things to do around Atlanta, and I've been checking out a lot of new things, which has been a total blast! My revamped social life is making me re-work my time management, but it's proving to be worth it. I’ve lived in suburban Atlanta my whole life and there are still so many places I haven’t explored yet. I’m brainstorming ways to blog about the fun things I do around town, so stay tuned because a new series might be starting up soon! I’m also playing with the idea of starting a series in which I feature a tattooed guest that gets the opportunity to show me their art, speak their story and have me share it with my audience. I love the idea of sharing people’s experiences with others, and tattoos are a beautiful way to bridge art and soul together. If you think you’d be interested in being featured, come talk to me!
Truthfully I’ve been a little distracted lately. I have a good number of projects that I need to be focusing on, on top of keeping up with a website, going out with friends and getting enough sleep for work. My blog took a bit of a backseat this past month and I feel determined to make it more of a priority in October. I’m always moving forward, though and I crossed off another goal, added to several and began making progress on some new ones. Let’s see what I did.

As far as goal #8 goes, I made progress in some unexpected ways. I’ve been increasingly social this month, which has done wonders for my energy level and creativity. I’ve forgotten how much I enjoy talking to strangers. It always seems to surprise new people how genuinely interested I am in what they have to say. If someone has a cool shirt, or something I want to know more about, I’ll ask them about it. People love feeling interesting, and I like spreading positivity by engaging someone in good conversation. I have a curious disposition about the world and the people that live in it, and it has given me a knack for talking to people on a personal level. I can’t wait to be inspired by even more humans beings. This is becoming one of my favorite goals I’ve made for myself.
I started progress on goal #42 and I’ll have to save the details for another blog post but getting a credit card is a more lengthy process for me than I anticipated. I’ve been doing my research and taking my time with it, though. I’m doing more financial planning than I’ve ever had to before, but I guess that’s a result of having actual finances for the first time in my life (not complaining!). It’s another source of adulthood stress, but if I stay disciplined about saving money I’ll be able to really have my independence and that’s something I’ve been wanting for a long time.
Earlier this month I went to Alive After Five in Downtown Roswell with some friends. It’s a fun event, and I’ve been a couple times. I’ll definitely be mentioning more about it in another post so stay tuned! We grabbed a bite at a new pizza place called The Real Fix, so I added yet another one on to goal #47! Also keep a look out for my review of Fix and their amazing Arugula and Prosciutto pizza.
You may have noticed already, but earlier this month I made some exciting progress with this little blog of mine! I decided it was time to separate my personal website and my blog into two separate entities. Now my portfolio and resume are housed at BeccaMorrow.com, and all of my blog content is right here on EclecticAvenue.net. I’m excited that I’m taking the time to brand my blog in it’s own way, and I’ve also used this opportunity to create social media accounts for sharing my blog's content. I feel like these steps are going to help me expand my audience, and I can’t wait to see what this project grows into. I’d love it if you’d go follow Eclectic Avenue on Twitter and Facebook, and help me branch out my voice by sharing anything you find interesting with friends.

And last but not least, I’m looking forward to listening to the two new vinyls I treated myself to. I ordered Bassnectar’s latest album Into The Sun and his album Divergent Spectrum from his online store the other day. I can’t wait for them to come in the mail! Hearing his music through a different medium is such an interesting experience for me. First I’ll have to buy a new record player, but I’m justifying that it’s all a part of my ‘congratulations to me for getting my first real job’ present. It feels good to spoil yourself every once in a while!
October is no doubt going to be busy for me, and I’m going to make it a priority to crack down on my side projects this month. My last monthly update had an uncertain tone to it about my mood and my personal life, but I’ve always been one to heal myself quickly and keep my optimism at top levels. I feel much more mentally healthy than I’ve been in a long time and I keep building confidence that I’m more than capable of taking on life and enjoying it to the fullest. Every day I have something to smile about and I’ve been bursting with creative energy lately because of it. I hope it will translate into my writing and maybe it will begin to rub off on all of you amazing readers whom I appreciate more than words can explain.
