DIESEL PIZZA PUB

It felt like the perfect day to grab a bite, so I made my way over to Diesel Pizza in Roswell, GA. I’ve been here plenty of times with my parents, since it’s just a couple of miles from their house. On a busy corner in Downtown Roswell sits Diesel Pizza, a vintage gas station turned pizzeria. The restaurant kept much of the original building style and incorporated service station elements such as large garage-style doors and fuel pumps into the overall concept. I have to say, if you plan to check out Diesel make sure you go on a sunny day so you can sit on the front patio. I was lucky to get one of these spots on a busy Saturday.

The first thing I checked out was the beer menu. Diesel is one of the few places that offers short pours (10oz) rather than having to order a full pint. My waiter gave a smile when I ordered it and said "Ah,  one of the baby beers!" Which I couldn't help but laugh at. As a slow drinker who’s beer gets warm pretty quickly, I can appreciate the short pour option. It’s usually the perfect amount! Another thing that I liked was that Diesel only serves draft beer (because draft it the best, no question). I ordered a Ranger IPA, one of my favorite beers that New Belgium makes.
It took me a while to decide what I wanted to order. The barbecue chicken pizza has never disappointed, but I was looking for something I hadn’t had before. I landed on the Off Roader, a panini filled with grilled chicken, creamy goat cheese, spinach, mushrooms and a homemade pesto aioli. One bite into the crunchy toasted bread followed by the amazing goat cheese and pesto flavor combination had me absolutely hooked. I actually made myself eat it slower so that I could enjoy it longer. The panini came with a salad, so I stuck to my usual choice of a caesar. It was delicious, as always, but nothing extra special about it, other than the presentation. I love how Diesel uses a lot of aluminum dishes for serving food, it ties in with the atmosphere very well.

Overall, the experience was relaxing, enjoyable and filling. I’ll definitely be back soon for another panini (I can’t stop daydreaming about it!). Next time I might try to go for an evening meal since Diesel offers live music several nights a week. Give me ideas for my next Foodie Exploit below!
