I'll be honest, I never really got on board with the whole New Year's resolution thing this year. January is a terrible time to try and get the whole world to be motivated. The weather is still cold, we're all broke from the holidays and the shame of eating all of your Christmas candy in one day is still very real.
I'm proposing that we make March be the official start of the new year. With most of the cold weather out of the way and the busyness of January and February behind us, March is a great time to take a breath of fresh air and make a new list of goals to accomplish. I know of some people doing the 101 in 1001 challenge, where you make a list of 101 things you want to accomplish in the next 1001 days, or 3.75 years. I don't know if I'll get that ambitious just yet, but I'm definitely making plans to stick to a fitness schedule. And hopefully better eating habits will come with it.
If you've lost track of your New Year's resolutions, use this time to check back in on them. Something about the changing of the months and season can bring a new perspective to the rut you've likely been stuck in. I've noticed this about myself over the past few months and I've realized that as much as I want to be more productive and less lazy, I can't force myself to do it. If you let motivation come to you, you'll be more likely to make positive changes in your life that will become habits. Shake off the winter hibernation feeling and start doing things to impact your life in a positive way. Wether it's doing some spring cleaning, sticking to a schedule to get in shape, reading more and stimulating your mind, or whatever it is that leaves you feeling accomplished afterward, do it!
The goals I have for myself for this month are to do more things outside (like tennis!), cook more meals at home (and include more vegetables..) and try to add something to my savings account (way easier said than done).
Remember the saying "March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb?" Getting into new habits isn't easy. Don't get discouraged because it will be difficult. Because by the end of the month, you'll be feeling awesome and on the right track. What motivates you? Tell me below!
