This might not be the best thing to admit, but lately I’ve been doing more blog reading than writing. Sorry for my lack of updates, I’m working on being better about scheduling them ahead of time! There are countless amazing blogs out there, so its easy to see how I can fall down the rabbit hole of beautiful blogs pretty quickly.
I’m glad that I do, though, because it allows me to discover plenty of new posts by authors who are all seeking that one thing in life every blogger out there wants; connections. (No, not the LinkedIn kind). Deep, meaningful, and heartfelt connections. This is why we write. Why we share and seek to inspire. I’ve fully embraced my blogger-ship at this point. Even though my blog is young and I started it as a side-project, it has really grown into something I’m proud of and I’m eager for it to gain a little more clout and join the rankings of some of the truly stellar blogs I read up on.
One of those blogs is The Nectar Collective. This site immediately sucked me into it (for no less than 2 full hours, I might add). The author, Melyssa, has a wonderful tone that makes you feel instantly connected to her life. She lives in LA with her adorable corgi pup (double jealous!) and runs her own blog and business consulting company. A lot of her blog’s content is centric around lifestyle and blogging advice, which are two things I can really appreciate. I'm still working on settling into adulthood, (on top of figuring out how to be a blogger), and her website has helped me in so many wonderful ways. Below is a list of a few of my favorite articles from The Nectar Collective.
- How to Get Shit Done Even When You're Totally Unmotivated - I laughed out loud at the title of this post, because I feel unmotivated more often than I like to admit. This post was the one that caught my eye on Pinterest and caused me to find TNC. Her advice is so casual and encouraging that it knocked my stress level down significantly (just by reading the post).
- 15 Tips for Being More Positive - I've always been the type of person to look for the silver lining, and some days it's a hard thing to keep up. The world can discourage optimistic thinkers with its scary, real life choices and obstacles. This post is already bookmarked to re-read for a rainy day.
- How to Develop Your Own Unique Blogging Voice - I loved this post. It really solidified what I've been trying to do with my own blog. Having a voice to your blog is so important, and sometimes it isn't easy. Much of the time, the voice of the content determines the audience. This post was so helpful, and it made me strive to become a more cohesive and consistent blogger.
- 9 Ways to Increase Blog Traffic by Updating Old Posts - I picked out this post because it has been a great source of help in getting my blog where I want it to be. I still have a lot to learn when it comes to blogging, and I really want to extend my reach. I'm slowly working in some of her suggestions, and hopefully it'll help bring my content to some new people who will benefit from my writing.
It's pretty easy to spend a lot of time on The Nectar Collective. It definitely has made it onto my list of blogs to check regularly. Be sure to check back for my next post on what blogs you should read!
